Minnesota Reading Corps is a statewide initiative to help every Minnesota child become a successful reader by the end of 3rd grade.
The program places AmeriCorps members in sites to implement a researched-based early-literacy effort to help struggling readers. The Reading Corps strategies are designed for both preschool-aged students and Kindergarten–3rd grade students.
We are fortunate to have two Minnesota Reading Corps members in our classroom this year. Heidi Plasek is a second year community member and Deanna Lipinski is our professional member. They do wonderful work planning and delivering interventions for our preschoolers to help them be on target in early literacy skills by the time they go to Kindergarten. The 2010-11 school year will be Heidi's last year with the program. If you or anyone you know is interested in becoming a Reading Corps member please contact us in the Early Childhood room. We would love to give you information and begin the application process. 218-338-4079 ext. 440.
