Course Description: The Business Math class will cover the role of computation in Business Education and its relevance to everyday applications.  Computational skills are essential in helping students fulfill their future roles as citizens, consumers, employees, employers, investors, inventors, and entrepreneurs.  These skills encompass the ability to solve mathematical problems, analyze and interpret data, and apply sound decision-making skills.  The skills will be developed by completing general mathematical and problem solving applications.

Course Objectives:

The Student will:

o  Apply basic mathematical operations to solve problems.

o  Solve problems involving whole numbers, decimals, fractions, percents, ratios, averages, and proportions.

o  Use algebraic operations to solve problems.

o  Use common international standards of measurement when solving problems.

o  Analyze and interpret data using common statistical procedures.

o  Use mathematical procedures to analyze and solve business problems.

 

Breakdown of Grading

 

Students will be graded on a total points possible basis, meaning the student is graded based on how many points they earn out of a total amount.  That number is then converted into a percentage and a letter grade is assessed according to the following table.
