SPRING SPORTS UPDATE |

The Baseball, Softball and Track seasons are coming to an end which means play-offs and some heated section competition.

STUDENTS COMPETE AT REGIONAL MATH MASTERS COMPETITION |
On March 14 and April 24, 6th graders and 5th graders took place in regional math masters challenges. Both groups did very well with 5th grade taking home 5th Place out of 35 teams and 5th and 6th idividual honors as well. |

The 2009 Parkers Prairie Eighth Grade Science Field Trip was a blast. Each day the group recorded journals and pictures of their activities to be posted on their website through the University of Minnesota - Morris. |

SANDBAGGING IN BRECKENRIDGE |
On Tuesday, March 24, 38 of our Parkers Prairie High School students traveled to Breckenridge to help that community with sandbagging to prepare for the cresting of the Red River. The kids and the five chaperones returned home very tired but proud of the work they had done that day. |

BE GREEN-EARN GREEN |
 |
Each year 3.6 billion drink pouches are produced, and since they are not recyclable, end up in our landfills. Now there is a program to recycle these pouches and make some money for local organizations. Parkers Prairie Early Childhood is now collecting all brands of plastic drink pouches. Just bring yours to one of the drop boxes at the elementary school. |

There are always a lot of great art projects up in the hallways of the Parkers Prairie Elementary School, from self-portraits to good food/bad food diagrams to tessellations. Check out the work by these budding youg artists. |

Two members of the Parkers Prairie Speech Team will be competing at the state competition this Friday and Saturday at Gustavus Adolphus College. Best of Luck! |

DINNER CONCERT AND SILENT AUCTION |
The Band and Choir will hold their annual Noodles and Notes Dinner Concert on Thursday, April 2 in the High School Cafeteria. Food will be served from 5:00 to 7:00. Performances will take place from 5:00 to 7:45. This year there will also be a silent auction held to raise funds for the music department. |

PARKERS PRAIRIE NHS COLLECTS ITEMS |

| The National Honors Society is currently collecting school supplies and toys for children in South Africa and also lightly used children's books for the Parkers Prairie Someplace Safe. Donations for either drive can be dropped off at the High School or Elementary offices. | |

50 YEARS OF FFA! |
This year marks the 50th anniversary for an organization that has prepared our area's youth not only for a future in agriculture, but also business, science, education and many other fields. The Parkers Prairie chapter of FFA is celebrating by holding a 50th anniversary banquet on Saturday, March 21, at the event center. |

The spring scholastic book fair will be in Parkers Prairie this week with the theme: "Reading Makes You a Star" Stop by the elementary library to check out the book fair and enjoy the special theme days. |

A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM |

Prairie Fire Children’s Theatre will be in Parkers Prairie this week to put on an addaptation of Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" Public performance will be Friday, March 6 at 7:00 pm in the Elementary gym.

The Parkers Prairie Speech Team took 1st place at Saturday's speech meet in Perham. All 43 participants came back with an award. Congratulations on an outstanding performance! |
