The Strong Schools Form Our Future Committee Answers Community Questions

How are the activities of the Strong Schools Form Our Future committee being funded?

The activities of the Strong Schools Form Our Future (SSFOF) committee are being funded by private donations which are not tax deductible. Tax dollars are not and cannot, under the law, be used to fund such activities.

Major contributions were received from the family of Pattie Troy in her memory, Shorty and Joyce Revering, Hilltop Lumber, Showcase Homes and an anonymous donor. The contributions have been generous.  However, had they been donated directly to the school,  they would not be sufficient to balance the school district’s budget. Additionally, in kind donations have been made by Sammy’s One Stop and Three Brothers’ Pizza for the magnetic signs for parade cars and for the parade banner.

The stickers and written pamphlets which have been passed out at parades and public events and the yard signs which will be appearing in the near future are paid for by SSFOF funds. The SSFOF T-shirts, which are being sold at cost, have been paid for by each person who has chosen to wear one.  Their sale is not intended to be a money-making venture for SSFOF, rather their purpose is to provide publicity and a showing of support for the referendum.

The Funding Subcommittee of SSFOF would welcome any additional donations.  Contact Barb or Curt Lind at 218-338-2911.

How can individuals get their questions answered regarding the referendum?

There are several ways to obtain answers to questions regarding the referendum.

  • Call 338-6011 to be put in touch with a school board member or the school district’s administration.
  • Host a Food, Fun and Facts gathering by calling Tom Koep(338-6558) or Mary Peterson (338-3224) to set up a date and time for you and your guests to meet with a school board member and a representative from the school’s administrative staff. The committee is particularly interested in holding a meeting in the northeast quadrant of the district.
  • Attend a public meeting which will be sponsored by the school board and administration at a date to be announced.
  • Invite a school board member and/or a representative of the administrative staff to attend your civic or social club gathering by calling Ann Thoennes at 218-338-5544.
